Turning Injuries Into Cures

Dr. Arik Axness, Baxter Chiropractic

Dr. Arik Axness Chiropractor in Baxter

“I remember it clearly,” says Dr. Axness. “My brother was swinging on our swing set when we were young. He tried to see how far he could jump off the swing, as many little kids do, but he mistimed the jump and landed straight on his backside. He was in instant, excruciating pain and had to crawl back to the house. My parents took him to the chiropractor immediately and, when he came home, he was fine. I couldn’t believe it… that was my first chiropractic miracle.”

“I wanted to be able to help people that way too,” continues Dr. Axness. “With a simple visit to the chiropractor I was able to play with my big brother later that night. I’ll never forget that.”

Chiropractic Education

Dr. Axness began his pre-chiropractic education at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, where he studied the basic sciences such as in-organic chemistry, organic chemistry, and biology, along with some basic physiology and anatomy courses.

After completing his study there, he was accepted at Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, Minnesota. During his four years at Northwestern, courses included biochemistry, a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, radiology, diagnosis, and chiropractic adjusting techniques.

Dr. Axness also completed a two year internship program where he had the privilege of working in many different clinics throughout the Twin Cities area. During his internships he was able to treat a variety of injuries and gain experience in treating everyone from babies to professional athletes.

After graduating in 2011, Dr. Axness returned home to Baxter, in the Brainerd Lakes Area to establish his practice.

Giving Brainerd Lakes and Baxter Area Chiropractic Patients the Relief They Need

“My job, first and foremost, is to get patients out of pain,” says Dr. Axness. “But chiropractic is about so much more than just pain relief. It is about preventative care and knowing ultimately that the maintenance and promotion of health is superior to the treatment of disease.”

Personal Life & Health Philosophy

Dr. Axness is clear with his patients that he doesn’t think prescription drugs, vaccinations and over-the-counter pain relievers are “the enemy.” “There is a time and a place for everything and sometimes they are needed,” he says. “What we should be focusing on is the fact that our country has more of a crisis-care system rather than a health-care system. As a HEALTH-care provider, I focus on taking the necessary steps to try and avoid diabetes, cancer, heart disease and other health complications before they happen.”

During his spare time Dr. Axness enjoys fishing, playing guitar, cheering for any Minnesota sports team (as heartbreaking as it can be!), and just being outdoors.
